Iran President declares “full-scale war” with US, Europe, and Israel

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Iran is engaged in what he described as a “full-scale war” with the United States, Israel, and European nations, escalating tensions in an already volatile geopolitical landscape.

In a recent interview published on the official website of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Pezeshkian said that external pressure from the West aims to “undermine Iran’s stability” and prevent the country from advancing its national interests. He claimed that this confrontation is “far more complex and difficult” than the Iran–Iraq War of the 1980s.

“In my opinion, we are in a full-fledged war with America, Israel, and Europe. They do not want our country to stand on its feet,” Pezeshkian said, describing the situation as not only military but also economic, political, and cultural in nature.

Western pressure and recent conflicts

The president’s remarks come amid continuing tensions following a 12-day conflict in June, during which Israeli strikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites — joined later by US air operations — resulted in significant casualties. Iran reported more than 1,000 deaths, including senior commanders and scientists, while retaliatory Iranian missile barrages killed several in Israel.

Pezeshkian also accused Western nations of imposing sanctions and diplomatic isolation designed to cripple Iran’s economy, particularly after renewed United Nations sanctions were reimposed by France, Germany, and the United Kingdom in response to Tehran’s nuclear program.

Warnings and military posture

The Iranian president warned that any further strikes from the US, Israel, or Europe would be met with a “more decisive response,” insisting that Iran’s military is now stronger in terms of both equipment and manpower than before earlier confrontations.

He also framed the ongoing pressures as a multifaceted conflict involving not only military engagements but economic constraints, cultural and political challenges, and security threats.

Regional implications

Pezeshkian’s statement was made just before a scheduled meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump, where Iran’s activities — including its nuclear program and regional alliances — are expected to be key topics.

International reactions to the declaration have varied, with Western officials emphasizing continued diplomatic pressure and sanctions, while Tehran frames its rhetoric as defensive against what it calls efforts to destabilize its sovereignty.
