Curry’s Late Heroics Power Warriors Past Milwaukee

SAN FRANCISCO — Stephen Curry scored 31 points, capped by a clutch step-back three with 26 seconds remaining, and added seven assists and seven rebounds as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, 120–113, on Wednesday night.

De’Anthony Melton provided a strong boost off the bench with 22 points, while Jimmy Butler finished with 21 points and five rebounds. Al Horford contributed one of his most complete performances since joining Golden State, posting eight points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.

Curry shot 12-of-21 from the field and knocked down three three-pointers. He connected on his first triple at the 4:44 mark of the opening quarter and had 14 points by halftime.

Giannis Antetokounmpo pulled Milwaukee within 10 with a layup at the 4:38 mark of the fourth quarter, but Butler answered immediately on the other end to halt the Bucks’ momentum.

Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee with 34 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, shooting 15-of-22 from the floor despite missing five of seven free throws. Kevin Porter Jr. added 15 points, nine assists, and four rebounds, but the Bucks were unable to overcome Golden State’s 18 made three-pointers and a 53–42 rebounding deficit.

Milwaukee entered the game having won four of its last five, including a 115–98 victory at Sacramento on Sunday after two days of rest.

Draymond Green chipped in 14 points and seven assists as the Warriors opened an eight-game homestand, holding on after building a 17-point lead in the third quarter.

Antetokounmpo started strong, scoring seven quick points on three of his first four shots. Milwaukee has now lost six straight games at Golden State dating back to a win on Jan. 8, 2020, during the Warriors’ first season at Chase Center.

The teams split their season series, with the Bucks having earned a 120–110 home win on Oct. 30.
